BPV adjustments and calculations
MIRV-equipped non-X2 ships adjustments
In a push to make SFC more SFB-like, conversion rules have been thought up
to allow non-X2 ships to be equipped with MIRV racks. Such a conversion would
increase the BPV of the ship by 20 BPV.
Conversion requirements:
SFB rules are percentage based on the # of drone spaces on racks. Since that
cannot be applied to SFC, the # of racks, themselves is instead used for the
count. MIRVs, or MW in SFB, are of a "Limited" type of drone, and has
corresponding percentage rules. The percentages are the following:
- 10% of drones on non-Mirak/non-Kzinti, non-X ships can be of the "Limited" type.
- 20% of drones on Mirak/Kzinti can be of the "Limited" type.
- 20% of drones on X ships can be of the "Limited" type.
That means that on a non-X, non-Mirak ship, you need at least 10 droneracks to apply the conversion. (There is actually 1 ship that qualifies: Z-WAxDN1.)
On Mirak or X1 ships, each 5th rack can be converted to a MIRV rack, if
the number of drone spaces on the ship is preserved. Usually, that means 2 B-racks become 1 MIRV-rack and 1 A-rack. (Each MIRV drone is similar to the double-space MW drone from SFB. Since a MIRV rack has 4 drones per reload, that means the rack is HUGE, sporting 8 drone spaces per reload. The B rack only has 6, so something has to be done to compensate)
Carriers: Fighters BPV adjustment
Carrier BPV cost is increased by 2 BPV per fighter carried on its default
config. This is after the 2/3 number of fighters conversion from SFB.
Stock Hydran fighters are 1 BPV in the stock shiplist. That has also been
increased to 2 BPV per fighter. Effect: base cost of ship is higher, but upgrade cost is lower. The ships' BPV are also more balanced with other race's.
Also, the orion pirates carriers have been adjusted to use early fighters
as default, to fix "spacedock" problems in the game. It's ok, since that
reduced the BPV of these ships to a more basic cost.
PFTs: Interceptor BPV adjustment
PF Tenders BPV cost is increased by 10 BPV per Interceptor carried on its
default config. This is after the 2/3 number of PFs conversion from SFB.
Some tenders don't include the cost of the MechLinks. That's 1 BPV more per
mechlink installed. If the ship gets 4 mechlinks in SFB but only uses 2 in
SFC, that's still 4 BPV paid.
G-racks
G-racks have an additional ADD6 installed per rack. That increases the BPV
by 1 per rack. Also, GX racks get ADD12s for 1 BPV each.
SFB's Drone 'D' to B rack conversion
There are no equivalent racks in SFC for the SFB drone D racks. Closest I
could figure was to replace the rack to a B rack and lower the BPV by 3.
(I came to this number by comparing the Z-DN and the Z-DND which has D racks.)
UIM adjustments
If the added ship has disruptors by no UIM system already installed and
included in the BPV, the ship's BPV is increased by 1+# of disruptors.
ie: L-HDW1 -> 5 disruptors. BPV was increased by 6.
Gorn hull hits adjustments
Taldren Style: The Front and Rear hull hits/boxes have been increased by 50%.
If reasonable, so has the center hull. This is done at no extra cost.
Heavy War Destroyer optional weapons and systems
The BPV values of the different optional weapons and systems were added
to the cost of the ship based on the appendix #8H, found in SFB module R6.
I'm not going to copy the values here, it's copyrighted material.
ISC Plasma-I adjustments
The ISC's defensive plasma-I don't work the same as in SFB: only 1 plasma-I can
be fired towards capital ships per turn, for all launchers. In OP 25412, this
is for each group mount of Plasma-I, so more plasma can be lobbed at the enemy.
Glancing at Taldren 'readme's concerning the changes done, I've found that
the BPV adjustment is roughly based on the following
calculation: (# plasma-I) * 1.5
Additionally, SFB's ISC SSDs show the ISC with the plasma-F installed
only. Calculations are needed to figure out each prior refit. Therefore:
All below are based on the SFB's version of ship's BPV and SSD, noted in
reverse to demonstrate the downgrade path
- Z refitted ship cost: base SFB BPV + (#plasma-I * 1.5)
- Y refitted ship cost: approx: base SFB BPV - (#plasma-I * 3)
- 2 plasma-I removed: -7 BPV
- 4 plasma-I removed: -13 BPV
- 6 plasma-I removed: -20 BPV
- 8 plasma-I removed: -26 BPV
- 12 plasma-I removed: -31 BPV
- P refitted ship cost: Y-refitted ship + -4.5 BPV * (Plasma-S downgraded to
PlasmaG).
- W reffited ship cost: P-refitted ship + (-4 BPV * PPDs removed).
- basic design, no refit: W-refitted ship + (-1 BPV * ph-3s removed).
The years for the refits are also important. I'll just use Taldren's
dates. If the ship post-dates any refit date, the refit will be included in
the base design of this ship.
- W refit in YFA +2 (2265)
- P refit in YFA +5 (2268)
- Y refit in YFA +7 (2270)
- Z refit in YFA +16 (2279)
ISC X1 x-ships also need to be adjusted for the above. Additionally, they
need to be compensated for the Plasma-L -> Plasma-I downgrade. There really
isn't any precedence to this, so I used common sense:
Normally, a plasma-F launcher costs 6 BPV (based on Gorn F refits). In the
case of the ISC, it's only about 3 BPV per Plasma-I launcher. That's only
half-price. Comparing the Orion option costs for both the Plasma-F and the
Plasma-L, there's a difference of 2 BPV.
This suggests the downgrade should reduce the BPV by 2/2 per plasma-I
launcher. So compared to the SSD, the x-ship's BPV is increased by
#plasma-I * 0.5 .
